PROJECTS

FIPs are collaborative projects that promote improvements in fishery practices and management to achieve sustainability. They involve fishermen, NGOs, governments, and companies in identifying areas for improvement, developing and implementing an action plan, and monitoring progress. FIPs can be a first step towards ITM status and eventually achieve MSC certification. They include monitoring and evaluation components to ensure that improvements are effectively implemented.

Currently, we lead a shrimp FIP and actively participate in an octopus FIP. We play a fundamental role in these collaborative projects. We work with local fishermen to improve fishing practices, providing technical and financial resources, promoting sustainability in our supply chain, and facilitating access to markets that value sustainable products. Additionally, we are involved in educating and training fishermen on sustainable fishing practices and marine conservation. These actions not only strengthen local communities but also ensure compliance with global standards, helping to reduce environmental impacts on ecosystems and positioning us as a leader in sustainable development.

The ITM (In Transition to MSC) program of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) guides fisheries towards MSC certification, which accredits sustainable fishing practices. It provides a structured framework to implement improvements and meet MSC standards.

Currently, the artisanal blue shrimp fishery of the Mexican Pacific is in the ITM stage and will soon be assessed for MSC certification. Our participation has been fundamental in pursuing this certification, committing to responsible and sustainable fishing. We actively participate in fishery improvement projects and collaborate with fishermen, NGOs such as COSOREMA, local communities, and other stakeholders to ensure their practices meet global standards. Our involvement in preliminary assessments and the development of action plans reaffirms our commitment to responsible and sustainable fishing.

Wholechain is a traceability platform that uses blockchain technology to provide transparency and accountability throughout the food supply chain. This tool allows companies to track products from the source to the final consumer, ensuring that each stage of the process is verifiable and transparent.

To improve traceability and transparency in our supply chain, we are in the process of implementing Wholechain. We have begun integrating this platform with our current systems, ensuring accurate data collection and digitization. Additionally, we are training our staff to effectively use this tool, fostering collaboration and transparent information sharing with our partners. This reinforces our commitment to ensuring the authenticity and quality of our products, promoting sustainable and ethical practices that increase consumer confidence.
